A new spin on advanced manufacturing energizes research

 The University of Sheffield Rolls-Royce Factory of the Future is now powering its collaborative research through renewable energy by activating the first of its two 250kW wind turbines.  The two turbines, which reach over 35 meters in the sky, mark the completion of the £14 million Factory of the Future construction.

The internationally acclaimed University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) with Boeing, is a £45 million collaboration between world-leaders in the aerospace supply chain, key government offices and international academic institutions.

Our world-class facility is dedicated to developing the new, technology-driven solutions for materials-forming, metal-working, and castings that help ensure UK manufacturing remains competitive in the world.

Reliance Mechatronic Tidal Simulation Assists Scientists

Scientists from London's Imperial College are using the new RT3 version of the Reliance Cool Muscle NEMA 23 integrated servo system to reproduce the sub-surface pressure changes created by lunar tides in laboratory research experiments directed at improving oil recovery.
