Sheffield Royal Aeronautical Society Autumn Lecture

Brian O'Rourke, Chief Composites Engineer for Williams Grand Prix Engineering Ltd will be presenting on: Composite Materials and Williams F1 Cars: 1982 to present.

Brian will present a brief history of Williams F1 and the role he has played within the company over the last 36 years. He will explain his role in introducing composite material technologies to Formula 1 at Williams, including setting up a manufacturing facility and materials lab, as well as the development of structural design and analysis from its beginnings.

He will also discuss his work on the FIA structural approval testing; crash testing requirements for Formula 1 cars introduced in 1985 and have developed considerably since. Brian has supervised all this work for Williams up to the present day.
