RIA Unlocking Innovation – Automation in Rail30 May 2019 - 30 May 2019
With the volume of work across the industry, the scarcity of resources and the limits on budgets, the challenge to both customer and supplier to work together for greater efficiency and productivity has never been greater.
In some industries, we are already seeing design done in Virtual Reality, manufacturing done using automation, and robots and drones performing inspection and maintenance tasks.
The Unlocking Innovation – Automation in Rail event will look at how automation can benefit the rail industry and what exciting new opportunities will come out of it.
The venue will be the inspirational Factory 2050 facility, part of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) in Sheffield, where work is going on to map the way to a more productive future. Delegates will get to look at some of the facilities at Factory 2050.
Speakers will include Andy Doherty the CTO of Network Rail on their work in Automation under the Shift2Rail programme and his colleague Rob Forde on relevant sections of the CP6 Innovation Programme. Chris Mundell of the East West Rail Alliance will be talking about their work on Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA) and the part to be played by Automation in design. Keith Ridgway, Executive Dean of the AMRC Group will brief us on their work. RIA is grateful to the AMRC team for setting up some interesting demos, including digital assembly and automation examples. We would also like to thank our sponsors ABB who are preparing some exciting projects to be shared with the attendees.
As ever with Unlocking Innovation, there will be opportunities for SMEs to pitch relevant products and services and for companies to buy inexpensive Exhibition space. Both opportunities are limited and subject to selection by RIA on relevance to the topic. Please get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss both.
Places are strictly limited to 100 delegates so book early and please let us know if having registered you are unable to attend so that we can reallocate your place.
