Engineering a Career: One Woman’s Path in Manufacturing
The University of Sheffield Faculty of Engineering, together with the International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) 2025 organising committee, cordially invites you to join us in celebrating the exceptional contributions of women in engineering on 23–24 June.
INWED is a global campaign that recognises and honours the achievements of women across the engineering profession, both locally and internationally. To mark INWED 2025, we are pleased to present a two-day programme open to all staff and students, dedicated to acknowledging the leadership, innovation, and impact of women in engineering.
Evren Yasa, AMRC's head of additive manufacturing, will deliver a compelling presentation - Engineering a Career: One Woman’s Path in Manufacturing, on June 23rd, from 1.20pm to 1.35pm. She will share insights from her manufacturing journey, highlighting the unique challenges she encountered as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated industry. Additionally, her talk will delve into themes such as "The Myth of the 'One Right Path'," navigating "Being a Woman in Mechanical Engineering," and the crucial role of non-technical skills.
Monday 23 June: Presentations
A celebration of the accomplishments of women in engineering at the University of Sheffield through a series of inspiring presentations. Our invited speakers will reflect on this year’s themes—Diverse Career Paths and Education — offering thoughtful reflections on their professional journeys, aspirations, the challenges they have overcome, and their visions for the future of women in engineering.
Tuesday 24 June: Workshops
Join us for two interactive workshops focused on wellbeing and career development, designed to provide practical tools, insights, and support. These sessions are open to colleagues at all career stages—including academic, technical, and professional services staff—and we welcome students to participate as well.
