Helping Rolls-Royce SMR build the next generation of nuclear power plants

Published:

The AMRC has collaborated with Rolls-Royce SMR on its experimental mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) module factory project, also known as the ‘Experi’ project, with an aim to deliver clean, affordable energy for all.

Launched in 2024, the project is a key part of the wider programme to develop and deliver 'factory-built' nuclear power plants, which will be assembled from a range of road-transportable modules manufactured in offsite factories.

Located within the AMRC’s flagship Factory 2050 building, the experimental facility project provides a space to mature factory design concepts, prove out assembly methods and validate key assumptions for the future of Rolls-Royce SMR’s power plants.

This collaboration leverages the AMRC's expertise in advanced manufacturing to create a safe, practical, and innovative environment that will directly influence the design and operation of future manufacturing plants.
